Webtools are pleased to announce the arrival of TruckR.
TruckR has been built for the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), in partnership with Road Transport Association New Zealand (RTANZ) and Green Signal, as a smart solution to assist the freight industry with travel planning.
TruckR is designed to help truck drivers travelling on the alternate Picton to Christchurch route after the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake.
The app highlights stopping areas suitable for 20 metre trucks, passing lanes, trailer swap areas, one lane bridges, along with petrol stations, accommodation, food outlets, and public toilets. Given the large portions of the route with limited cellular coverage, all map features are available offline.
It also connects to the Transport Agency Traffic Road Event Information System (TREIS) alert system, giving you up to date information about road works, crashes, and road closures.
TruckR is being trialled by the freight industry, with plans underway to include the State Highway 1 Kaikoura Route once it reopens in December.
TruckR App is available on both the Google Play Store and the App Store.
